This was an enjoyable little book. It is the first in a series of 6 and they are shorter stories with only about 121 pages each. This starts off with Meredith discouraged because the married life isn't what she expected. When they first got married Luke was in love with her and now they almost never talk except to argue and he spends more and more time with his dog, Fritz. His main problem is he lost his job and has not been able to find another one so the whole play of financial struggles is so relative to our day and age today.
Luke finally gets a call from an uncle who wants him to come help in his business but this uncle lives in Indiana, which is quite a drive during the winter time. Meredith has misgivings about the trip but Luke decides to go anyways as this is his way of redemption. There are things at work here that both spouses don't realize and I like how Wanda pulls you both ways. You understand Meredith's fears about her husband going that far in the winter time and how long he will be gone. Yet you also feel Luke's longing to provide for his family and the chance he is given.
The only thing I wish is that the book was longer. It leaves you suspended at the end and you have to wait for the next book, which seems to be coming out later this month. I also think it would have been nice to have less books and more pages to each one. It just seemed kind of hard to get into the book and just as you do, it ends. Still a very good book and I totally enjoyed it!
I was provided a copy of this book for my review purposes. I did not receive any monetary compensation and all thoughts are 100% mine.
