I thoroughly enjoyed this romance. Serena Barton has been wronged by loathsome duke and demands retribution. She waits every day outside his residence demanding to be seen. Hugo Marshall, his ambitious man of business with a reputation for ruthlessness is sent to deal with her. The banter between the two strong willed characters is delightful. Both characters are complex characters determined not to let difficulties keep them down, and you can't help but love them.
This is a prequel to the Duchess War. It is the generation before the Brothers Sinister. I had previously read the Duchess War, but they could be read in either order or as stand alones.
