Retired and divorced, Julia Bird has left London for a fresh start in a Cotswolds village. She soon adopts a wayward puppy, Jake, who helps her meet all the neighbors because of his poor behavior. When Julia decides to build a chicken coop, she has no idea she will reveal a murder from years ago.

Julia finds herself drawn into the community's affairs due to the lack of law enforcement in the area. The village is teeming with quirky characters, each with a unique story. As the tension escalates with a second murder, Julia, in a show of solidarity, decides to assist the local policewoman in her investigation.

I didn't like that the clues to figure out the story weren't shared until the last chapters. There was no way to figure it out without those facts. This is a slow-moving story. Overall score = G+.
