An interesting mix of magic and Jane Austen-like "regency romance," as odd as that may sound. If I'd just relied on cover images and back-cover copy, I seriously doubt that I'd have given this much chance. But it was nominated for the 2011 Nebula Award, and I occasionally try to read the nominees.

And I actually found this one fairly fun. The world of magic here is commonplace and yet subtle, an artistry rather than a technology. It was definitely worth my while, though the "Austen-isms" were grating. (That's the occasional odd spelling that really doesn't do anything except take me out of the story.)
