Crispin's books are always fun to read, due to his humor and his satirical asides about British society and its class system. The mysteries are good too. His hero, Oxford Professor of English Gen, often knows who the criminal is by the middle of the book, but doesn't reveal it to any of the characters or even the reader. Often telling a character or two, "I know who did it, but I don't have enough proof." Even if he does tell a character, as he does at least once in this book, he tells it in private so the reader still doesn't know.
If there is a downside, it is how Gen figured it out, as the professor's final explanation can be extremely detailed, if not confusing. But I'm still going to keep reading them.
