Another Cathy Glass tear-jerker. Alice is a 4 year old who was warmly and cozily being cared for by her grandparents after her mother became ill
The lack of social workers, overworked staff and lack of time to really look into this child's home life caused her to be put into foster care, and ended up at Cathy's.
Cathy does a fantastic job of revealing how this child interacted with her and her children, and the sad events that causes her to be in foster care for over a year.
I can't help but wonder how many children are lost in this system, and placed for adoption unnecessarily because they don't have carrers who are so dedicated to their jobs as Cathy is. It is indeed another superb book.
