Kate - too-good-to-be-true - MacKenna encounters a few problems (1-11): she almost gets blown up by a bomb (1), and because her recently deceased (2) mother, (co-owner) of her company, has left her on the verge of bankruptcy (3), she's about to loose her company to some crooks (4). She feels responsible for her two sisters who still have to finish their education (5) and she has to figure out how to manage all this (6)!!

Kate doesn't want to burden them (7), so when she calls her best friend Jordan Buchanan she hopes to find some moral support and a shoulder to cry on. However her dear friend has found out she has a lump on her breast and needs surgery (8). Not only that, Jordan is also being sued by a person who makes a living out of suing (10). So Kate immediately sets off to be with Jordan and to support her. While Jordan is in hospital, Jordan's brother Dylan sees to Kate... They have known and have (apparently) been feeling "bothered" by each other for ages.

Once back home the problems only get worse (11) so Dylan, being a cop, comes to do his own investigation (not really, see below).
