I am interested in the "backdrop" behind true-crime cases. This is sometimes referred to as a "psychological autopsy," of sorts, or what happens behind a crime and what events lead to its occurrence.

This book is written by a man (Roy Hazelwood) who is considered one of the pioneers of criminal "profiling" in the FBI. His knowledge and experience is great; he explains how the FBI assembles details from crime scenes and how this information leads to a likely composite of a killer or predator. This is not some kind of "hocus-pocus:" it is a valid psychological science with identifiable and proven strategies. Hazelwood writes about many types of cases, provoking great curiosity and providing the reader with eye-opening information.

I loved this book!
