All of the books in this series can be read as "stand alones", but each definitly adds to the series as a whole.

This one starts a little slow, and was kind of dark to start with, but I liked the eventual interaction between the two main characters and how it wove into the series story.

The ending was a big surprise too! There are always interesting twists and turns to the variety of immortals . . .
