I decided to read this book because The Neverending Story, also by Michael Ende, is one of my favorites, and I ended up liking it a lot. It's very different from The Neverending Story, though. Whereas the later book is a grand adventure with a lot of characters and a complicated cosmology, this book is simpler, more playful, and much more humorous, although it still has the whole good vs. evil thing.

So, in short, this book is a fun, quick read of a children's fantasy. If you're into that kind of thing, you'd probably like this book.
