Don't let the title turn you off - this novel is a really excellent standalone thriller set in the present day. The only scifi element is that some people's blood, if given in a full body transfusion to another, can heal the sick, make them appear younger and more fit, and, essentially save or extend their life. There are three organizations peddling this blood, which is gathered from captured "carriers" and sold for extreme prices. Law enforcement hears rumors of "blood farms" and that's where Ellie, a LAPD cop, goes undercover to find out what's what. Secretly, she's also looking for her carrier twin brother who was kidnapped when he was 8.
The other half of the story is being told by Sebastian, who is the supplier of "Pandora", the most sought-after blood. His business is under siege from a competitor, the violent stepson he helped raise.
So that's the premise. But what I didn't mention is how well told this story is - the author is a real craftsman. His words flow smoothly, the tension ratchets up and never disappoints and just when you think you know what's going to happen, it doesn't turn out at all predictably. I loved this read! 5 stars!
