What would you do if you knew your friend was dying, how would you say goodbye? Could you do it? Will she take your deepest darkest secrets with her, will you keep hers? This is my second Ms. Bache read. She has a way with words that can be so mesmerizing. She talks to you as she tells you a story. It is like you are her friend and she is letting you in on everything, she just chats. This is a novel of friendship, secrets, growing up, marriage, fear, disfunction, love, life & of course, death. It is absorbing, by this i mean it goes into your pores and you are concerened for these women and their families. They live on Brightwood Trace next to and across from each other. It starts out when they are younger and skips ahead a few years. The glue of their group of women has been diganosed with cancer and in 3 months these 4 women undergo changes that leaves none of them unchanged. They have to learn how to say goodbye to one friend they find they truely cherished and depended on, was jealous of and avoided at times, and love, each in their own way. When i was finished with this novel i thought i wanted to read it again, but i don't think my heart can handle it right now. I will again in the future though, i know i will. Send it to your best girlfriend when you are done, then sit back and think about what you'd say to her if the time presented itself to say goodbye. Make sure it is what you want to say and do, as there will be no second chance.
