Chew on This is basically Fast Food Nation aimed at younger readers, but since it's been five years since I read the latter I figured a refresher couldn't hurt. It didn't; it's a reminder on how food production works in the United States and a refresher course in what I should think about at the grocery store and when I choose a restaurant. I don't eat at many fast food restaurants (not after watching Super Size Me and reading Fast Food Nation in the same week!), but I do eat quite a bit of convenience food and I need to pay better attention to where my food comes from.
