This is a classic story of Christmas. It involves, love, romance, mystery, and what is the most important aspect of Christmas-Jesus. It started with an old photograph of Marissa's grandmother. But the officer who was embracing her with such passion didn't look like her grandfather. As the questions begin, an extraordinary story unfolds of love and loss and caring, of separation and reunion. Marissa and her grandmother discover that the most precious gift of Christmas is that of the present. And the season of giving is not limited to once a year.

Marissa's grandmother tells her a story about her past that shocks Marissa. No one else knows this whole story and she is asked not to tell. Marissa spends Christmas with her newly widowed grandmother, while their family goes to Hawaii. Her grandma stays with Marissa because she has hepatitis.

This is a wonderful Christmas book about the love an English village gives 311 scattered European orphans and how they all found new homes in America.
