This book is written by the mother of 2 little girls and if you thank the Lord daily that you are past those days, the cutsie stories can get to you. Not in a good way. Also, because her girls are little, the recipes may be too small for families with older kids. Anybody who has ever fed a teenage boy will know what I am talking about. One teenage boy eats a lot more than two little girls put together. A teenage boy could probably eat the food equivalent of an actual little girl on any given day.

That being said, the recipes are easy and the ones that I have made so far have gone over well. My family is not vegetarian but we do try to eat healthy here and there. There are enough things in here to make it worth the purchase price for me. However, if you can't get it here, you may want to see if you can get it at the library to see if this book is for you.

My other nit-picky complaints are the emphasis on organic this and organic that. Unfortunately, in my area, organic products are often twice the cost of the regular kind. Just switching to organic milk would add about $50 per month to my grocery bill! Keep in mind, the author is a stay at home mom/lawyer. This tells me, she didn't have to worry about paying off law school so paying the extra for organic products must fit in the budget better than around my house. Some things could have been explained a little better (white whole wheat vs. whole wheat pastry flour comes to mind. Same grain, different texture which can also vary by brand is not explained). I also was annoyed about the recommendation to buy flour from the bulk food store because kind in a bag is like a brick. Stir it up and it will be just fine! The kind at the bulk store was probably just a bigger brick! And, more people probably sneezed in it before you bought it!

Overall, this is a fairly good cookbook if you would like to try out some vegetarian/vegan recipes without spending hours and hours looking for weird ingredients and chopping them up.
