Gemma Falls left her abusive ex-boyfriend when she found out she was pregnant with their child. She has been on the run for the last couple of years, staying just steps ahead of him and his private detectives. Gemma has changed her name and recently taken a job at a D.C. University where she has met Professor Jethro Hanson. Jethro tries to talk to her, but Gemma is keeping her distance. The last things he needs is another man in her life.
Jethro is interested in Gemma and would like to get to know her better; but he is suddenly being pulled in another direction. A body was recently found in an alley with a note addressed to him. Jethro, a former MI6 spy, knows who the killer is. He knows that there will be many more bodies unless he can stop the killer. He also knows that Gemma could be in danger just by talking to him.
This is the fifth book in Rebecca Zanetti's Deep Ops series. I would recommend reading this series in order. The are many reoccurring characters in this series, so I would start at the beginning.
I enjoyed this romantic suspense story. Gemma's young daughter Trudy along with my favorite alcoholic German Shephard Roscoe, provide the entertainment in this story. And not only do we have Gemma who is being stalked by her ex; but we also have a serial killer who has a vendetta against Jethro. We learn early in the book who the killer is, but that doesn't hurt the story. We never knew when he would show up or who he would try to kill. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
