I can remember standing in line in the 70s to see the first Star Wars movie. And I've seen them all since then, but thought the last one was a disappointment. But I've never read any of the books stemming from the movies. They were just not my cup of tea. And there is just too much really good sci-fi out there to spend time reading pale imitations of the movies.
However, I decided to give this anthology a try, thinking I could skip the bad stories. There are always bad stories included in anthologies. But I was surprised, as I liked most of the stories. And realized the editor must have let the authors read the previous stories submitted, as the main characters in some stories later played minor roles in following stories. And all the stories seem to have Luke and Obi-Wan entering the cantina at some point. So those were interesting plot devices to keep me interested.
But I would encourage you to skip the final story. It was a confusing disappointment.
