I like Robin Owens so I bought the book without even skimming it. That was a mistake. The comic relief of the ghost labrador is not comic relief. This is one of the things that hit me the most - I know Ms. Owens can write animals that don't sound like humans, and the dog, Enzo, sounds too human. Labs are rambunctious, playful and loyal and I get none of that from Enzo.
While there were some plot holes there were no overwhelming ones, but the entire book was missing something. The action moved fast after the uneven beginning but it still felt forced. There was too much tell not show. Again, I have enjoyed Robin Owens books in the past, this is the first one I didn't like at all.
