I started listening to this book on a library copy of the cassettes without realizing that it was abridged. I wanted the whole story so i picked up a copy of the book to finish, and enjoyed it immensely. I always enjoy Judith McNaught's novels both historical and comtemporary. She never disappoints with her character choices in my opinion. I originally skipped over this book when it came out because I didn't think it sounded like her usual work and didn't like the plot summary, but I figured that I wouldn't mind listening to it in my car. I am so glad I took the time to read the rest of the story. I just love a man who pines from afar and then finally gets his girl. He didn't have to push her into anyhting or be a jerk to get her to fall for him as so many authors make their leading men act. She saw his constant but distant devotion to her over the years by his actions that she didn't know about until now when he's walked back into her life and his emotional support while she grieves for an unfaithful husband he never liked. That cemented their relationship and showed her the difference between him and her late husband. No comparison. Michael wins hands down. The romance in the book doesn't really begin until a little more than half way thru but it definitely doesn't disappoint and the story overall is well written.
