Drew is a rich businessman. He worked hard to get where he is. He is also good at what he does. But he is an arrogant son-of-a-bitch. Cocky, a womanizer, and a bit of a user. Katherine just got her MBA. She's smart, ambitious.
I'm still trying to find a "New Adult" book that I really like. This one is the best of what I've read thus far. A lot of my friends *heart* this book. For me, I didn't love it, didn't hate it. I think I would have enjoyed it much better if Drew wasn't such an arrogant asshole. I liked Kate. She was good at not putting up with Drew's shit.
Pluses: I liked the first person from Drew's point of view. I liked the writing; this was entertaining to read. It's funny at times. Drew is honest- he knows exactly what he is. Later, he is honest about what he whats. Drew and Kate do compliment each other. Mackenzie and a conversation about striving to be more than a princess.
Negatives: Drew. I didn't like him. He is not a sympathetic character. In an office romance, there's a fine line of what would constitute sexual harassment, and Drew crosses that line multiple times (and you can't tell me he'd lose his job, the son of one of the bosses). He refers to women as "girls" and "chicks." His older sister Alexandra is known as "The Bitch." Granted, he says it with affection some of the time, but I don't remember Drew ever calling her that to her face. Lastly, Drew's quote, "I hate cats."
While, I had issues with this, I started this this morning and finished it this evening. This next book is from Kate's POV, so I'll probably be picking that up. I'll be honest and say if it was from Drew's, I probably wouldn't.
