I got this book because I had enjoyed Cold Comfort Farm so much It wasn't quite as good, but I liked the British upper-class gentle mockery, sometimes with an edge when dealing with prejudices and snobbery. The time period between the first and second World Wars was different from books I usually read and I'm not very familiar with it. Not one of my favourite times, but I liked the writing style a lot.
