I had heard of this book but got it through the LA County library when I wanted to look up a reference to it in another book. The author has done a great deal of research among the many published books and brings it together pretty well. He is not critical and gives the subjects' stories a favorable spin where he can. This is a popular history, not one with footnotes.
I became interested in where their lives went and that is summarized succinctly in an appendix. I also read with pleasure about the lives of TR's and Lincoln's boys when they were kids. I didn't know that the Baby Ruth candy bar did not come out when she was a girl.
