This is the first book I've read by Maya Banks so I didn't have the back story on the characters (I think there are 2 stories before this and one after). At first I didn't feel there was much connection between Julie & Nathan. It got better towards the middle but I definitely liked the ending. I liked their story but not so much the bdsm of the other characters (but that's personal preference).
