This is a story that takes a look into the world of domestic abuse. A young 17 year-old Penny Carson was ripe for being lured into a relationship that would betray her love-starved heart when Trent Taylor came along. The story opens here and takes the reader on a somewhat predictable, but at the same time unimaginable for most, course. Circumstances suddenly change and with Trent unable to work, Penny finds herself employed and making friends with two very unpredictable Christian ladies. They are fearless in their quest to help Penny as she wrestles with the desire to escape her abusive marriage and the fear of being alone and pregnant. This is a worthwhile book for the glimpse it gives into the mind of a victim of abuse, the hope and courage it may bolster for one who is trapped, and the challenge it gives to those who are potentially safe havens for abuse victims.
