This is the first book about amateur sleuth Adrien English. He is a bookstore owner/aspiring writer who's one-time best friend is brutally murdered in the back alley outside his home and he is the prime suspect. To clear his name, and make sure he's not next, he does some investigating on his own. On the case is sexy, closeted LAPD Detective Jake Riordan

There is a bit of sex in the book, but it doesn't dominate the story. I enjoyed this book very much and look forward to reading the rest of the series.
