After Detective Mason Brown is injured while saving two children in a house fire, he hires a visiting nurse. Mason's girlfriend, Rachel de Luca, takes an immediate dislike to the nurse. Her intuition tells her that Gretchen Young is trouble. But her problems with Gretchen take a backseat when they hear that Mason's sister-in-law has escaped from the mental hospital and has taken her sons with her. As Mason and Rachel search for his nephews, her senses tell them that the boys are not the only people in danger...Mason and Rachel are in the cross-hairs too.

Another outstanding addition to Maggie Shayne's Brown & de Luca series. In this book, Rachel is not sure if she is ready for any kind of commitment from Mason. But when he is injured she realizes she doesn't want to live without him. She's just not sure how to tell him.

As usual, the dialogue is sharp and witty, the characters are well drawn, and the suspense is top-notch. I hope the author decides to continue this series in the future. My rating: 5 Stars.
