Come Away My Beloved: The Intimate Devotional Classic Updated in Today's Language

I first read this book at age 20. It was a gift from a friend and the book became an old friend. Over 35 years later, I ordered it from Swap to give as a gift, and that spurred me to get my own worn copy off my bookshelf.

The devotionals Frances Roberts wrote still speak to me today, reminding me of God's deep, abiding love for me no matter what. She speaks not only to that concept, but also to the truth that acknowledging and resting in His love allows me to continue to grow closer to the Lord and be more like Jesus.

It's not one of those "feel good" books that ignores the cost Jesus paid so we can be restored to relationship with the Lord; she calls us to obedience and repentance as well. But she stresses that these occur not out of our own doing, but as a response to the Lord's love for us.
