Please don't let the length of this book scare you off. You will become so engrained in the lives of these Marines, every time they set off into the jungle you'll find yourself praying that they all come back. Full of characters that you will not soon forget. This war was so bad and just plain stupid, and our government required these brave young Marines to go and fight it for them. This should be a part of every American History class, along with A Rumour of War by Caputo. Well written and haunting.
