Crap! That's what this is. I'm starting to lose faith in Emma Holly. I read the 'Midnight' series and thought, "what a great author." So I either bought or traded for several other books by her and after a string of bad or nonexistent plots, I'm about ready to give up on her.
As with 'All You Can Eat', 'Demon's Daughter', and 'Personal Assets', the plot to 'Strange Attractions' is loose at best, and confusing as heck at worst. Quantum leaps, atomic particles...ugh! The oddball scientist for some reason reminded me of the albino monk from the DaVinci Code, coulda been the shaved body hair, certainly not one to put me in a romantic mood.
And on top of it all, I certainly wasn't expecting all of the gay male love scenes contained in this book. Now I'm certainly no prude as far as sex goes. I expected a steamy, unconventional romance. A little kink is Emma Holly's style, but this was over the top.
And the heroine, boy was she a piece of work. I felt like I was on a see-saw watching her go back and forth between the mad scientist and his partner. I mean jeez, how long does it take to figure out that these two bisexual men are in love with EACH OTHER, but have commitment issues with anyone else.
If I hadn't spent $10 on this book, I can honestly say that I probably wouldn't have finished it, but I was determined to get my money's worth even if it did gross me out a bit.
