Looks like the Alex Craft series is back on track. I enjoyed Grave Ransom. It made up for a lot of my disappointment with the preceding book. I have a complicated history with this series. I devoured the first 3 books and loved them each. Then came the interminable wait for Grave Visions to issue. And when it finally did, I was tremendously disappointed. The action kept me reading, but didn't give me a lot to invest in. It almost felt like Price wasn't sure where to take the story-arch. So we got a meandering plot with a lot of conflict. And a headache.

Grave Ransom is a much more satisfying read. Full of action with a very entertaining case to solve. But looking back I wonder if Price actually wasn't sure where where she wanted the story-arch to go back in Grave Visions, (that might explain all the publication delays) because Grave Ransom is a great story but unless I missed something in this book there isn't a smidge of story-arch to follow. Her family, the Winter Queen, and most of the other complicating factors of Alex's life are completely absent.

I hate to complain about a story I enjoyed, but apparently I'm gonna, cause I wanted more from Alex. She is a great character, and Grave Witch is such a unique world. This was a great addition to the series. I should have loved it, but it felt a little flat.
