Beautiful but naive lady Rowena has developed a reputation as a man hater for denouncing war, and especially the knights that fight them. Until she meets her hard-headed match Stryder, and learns the true meaning of the price that has been paid for the freedoms that she unthankfully enjoys. Stryder, tormented by years of imprisonment during the crusades is sworn to never open his heart again and spend the rest of his life with his brotherhood defending those who can not defend themselves. Until he meets Rowena and the ice around his hears slowly begins to thaw. You slowly learn the haunted past that makes him so cold towards Rowena in the beginning and that he actually has a much deeper side than anyone knew. This is a well-written book, with plenty of unexpected twists and turns and well-developed characters and story lines. The tension between Rowena and Stryder keeps your attention and even throws in a little humour here an there. All in all a very well written story.
