The beginning of the book starts with a prelude that woke me up and had me flipping pages like mad. I couldn't wait to delve more into this book... until I did. Unfortunately, the action stalls for quite a bit. We get a little here and there but not until near the ending does it pick back up.
This book is about a vamped up rabies virus that spreads through the bloodstream like mad. It is almost impossible to get on top of it. When pregnant Natalie gets bit, the only thing she can think to do is find her doctor friend Ramola. This sets off their rush against time to get a vaccine and save the lives of Nat and her unborn baby.
Throughout the book we get flashback on Nats & Rams lives before. It seems like this was a way to try to possibly bring you closer to the characters but it did nothing for me at all except bore me. I also really didn't like Nats. I don't know if her quirky, smart aleck attitude was supposed to make her funny but I found her to be irritating. Other that that, I liked when they met up with Josh and Luis and pretty much everything after that. This was my first Tremblay book and I will be tempted to read another.
