Finlay Donovan is a divorced mother with two young children. She is also a romantic suspense writer who has a massive case of writer's block. Finlay is in debt, has spent her advance, and is late submitting her non-existent book to the publisher. She meets with her literary agent at a local restaurant and pitches some new ideas for a suspense plot. During the meeting, Finlay notices the woman at the next table is listening intently. When she discovers that the customer left her a note wanting to hire her to kill her husband, Finlay realizes that she has been mistaken for a contract killer.
Finlay is not about to murder some guy even if she needs the money. Calling it research and looking for inspiration for her new book, Finlay decides to check out the targeted husband and see if she can discover why his wife wants him dead. In no time at all, Finlay finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation.
I heard a lot about this book and it sounded like something I would enjoy. Well, I absolutely loved it. This book has a unique plot and lots of laugh-out-loud moments. Finlay and her sidekick/nanny Vero are hilarious. Finlay makes some dumb decisions to cover up a crime, and Vero is right there with her, cheering her on. If you're looking for a light, funny whodunit, give this book a try. My rating: 5 Stars.
