Before Annis was abducted the the Vikings, she seemed to be a strong, go-getter, who knew what she wanted and went after it. Once she was taken, she became a mouse. She was a prized captive and relatively well-treated but she just wilted. I found Haakon to be wishy-washy and definitely not the alpha male he seemed to be in the beginning. This tiny book took way to long to read as I kept stopping because both Annis and Haakon got on my nerves.

I don't think I'd read another book by this author. IMHO, Vikings are supposed to be strong warriors who take what they want and offer no apologies. Ms. Styles has gelded her Vikens and taken away any sense of Viking from them. The book sort of plodded along rather tepidly and I found it depressing and boring.
