I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The thought of romeo and juliet mixed together with zombies was intriguing. The problem I have with most of these YA books is when you have an author trying to write in the teenager's point of view and not doing a good job at all. It seems forced and fake and very hard to relate to. To my dismay, this was NOT that type of book. The teen characters were so well written. They reminded me of my teens at home and their friends. When I read the back of the book I found out the author was a mom writing along with her daughter under one pen name. This seemed to be the perfect mix to make an enjoyable read.
The book is written under 3 teenager's point of view. You have Meredith, Heather & Adrian. Meredith and Heather are sisters who used to be close but since the accident involving their father and Heather they seemed to have drifted apart. Heather was like a walking zombie since that day until she meets the new boy at school (who happened to move next door as well). All the girls in school are infatuated by him but he only has eyes for Heather. The only girl who is not taken in by his charm is Meredith. She's knows there is not something right about him and is on a mission to find out what. But curiosity killed the cat and if Meredith is not careful that could become her fate.
The back of the book shows that this author wrote another book called The Well. I will definitely be checking that one out as well.
