So very well written; not my typical kind of book but I enjoyed it very much. All of the characters were wonderful, the tension if you can call it that is both laid back and also slowly rising before Katrina...it's hard to describe. Fine writing!! Right up there with Wallace Stegner. I noted the author was on a Stegner Fellowship and found that just perfect since she writes as well as he did.
