I was prepared not to like this book, because of the ending of his children book based on this version. To my surprise, I enjoyed this book.
Eddie was twelve and yearned for a new bike for Christmas even though his mother was in the middle of hard financial times after the death of her husband. So when Eddie receives a homemade sweater instead, he is full of resentment and anger. The book is well written and brings some surprises to the reader.
