An older romance, past when she was doing the Harlequins, and before the latest ones that started to bore me. (Should I say that??) Eagle was once one of my favorite authors, one of the only ones who wrote authentic Indian love stories, perhaps because her husband is Lakota. Anyway, her best are when she splits her stories between the centuries, and in this one she tells 2 beautiful, connected tales, one taking place in the 1800's during the Massacre at Wounded Knee, and then one from the 1990's at the time of the Memorial Ride for Wounded Knee. Heart-wrenching in parts.
