I was so uncertain about the new series because I loved Riley. This was great.
Risa was like a younger version of Riley, not as bad but a bit naughtier if you can believe it. Her "team" was awesome as well with Tao (son of Kellan), Stane (Kellan's nephew), and Ilianna (witch). There are a lot of parallel's to Riley's series in a way: Ilianna's lesbain relationship somewhat like Rhoan and Liander, Lucian as Quinn, etc.. but it was still worth the read.
It was a great read and I couldn't put it down. Arthur's writing has also improved so much. Can't wait to read the next book.
Just a note. I know my library marketed this book as a romance but it's not at all. It really belongs in the fantasy genre.
