The Atlas of Coasts and Oceans
Don Hinrichsen
Subtitled "Eco Systems, Threatened Resources, Marine Conservation" this book is an essential ingredient in the library of anyone interested in caring for the earth we live on and in. A scant 128 pages, the book is nonetheless jam-packed with data presented in both text and illustrations that are easily understood and quickly absorbed. Much of the information was not exactly 'news' to me but the way Hinrichsen puts it together created an impact I have not felt in any other volume I've read on the subject. I highly recommend this book as the book to be kept handy on one's reference shelf to foster discussions of the ecological, environmental, and economic importance of our marine world.
