Helpful Score: 1
The Queen Juana of Castile is treated as though she is mentally unstable, by those who should support her role as queen. Unfortunately, the ambitions of her husband King Philippe the Handsome were far greater as his retinue and advisors asserted their will on her and kept her locked up as they tell her for her own good.
Lucia, a 17 year old orphan, who attends a convent school meets Manuel, a professor and a descendant of the Denias of whom played an intricate role in holding Queen Juana captive, together they embark on the telling of Juana's story. Not only do they reconstruct for themselves what life must have been like for Juana and what her reactions may have been like but they also find themselves on their own adventure of truth.
Quite a surprising read. Enjoyed it immensely.
