The book description doesn't do this story justice - it makes it sound like a horror story. Mushi are more like the essence of life, creatures who exist along side the world - the stories don't characterize them as good or bad, sure they have the potential to cause havoc, but the mushi just are what they are.
I really enjoyed this book - the story is broken down into chapters that stand alone very well on their own, but they are tied together by the main character, Ginko.
The artwork is beautiful and the tales are easy to follow. The stories are very calming - it's a little reminiscent of hearing folk tales around a camp fire.
