I really enjoyed this book. As a lover of fairy tales, I appreciate the reimagining of this tale with an adult focus. This is part of a series (The Gentle Beast is the first book and this is the second), but can absolutely work as a stand alone novel without any trouble as it is not necessary to have read the previous book.
