This volume was a bit of a let-down after the laugh-out-loud humor of the previous books, but it was still enjoyable, just more along the lines of pleasantly amusing rather than hilarious. An old friend of Meg's that she has not seen for a couple of years suddenly begs her to watch her toddler for awhile, and Meg reluctantly agrees. But when a day goes by with no word from her, Meg suspects she is in some kind of trouble and sets out to find her. Of course she comes across another dead body. At the same time she also has to deal with her father and grandfather who are again using her home to temporarily house several reptiles and birds from the zoo, and are acting suspiciously like they are up to something illegal. It's another fun romp and intriguing mystery from the irrepressible and talented Andrews.
