There is one review I saw on GoodReads that said something like "the author was trying too hard," and sadly, I completely agree. I stopped reading around page 189, because it felt like each chapter was being forced, and in-turn, I felt like I had to force myself to keep reading. I was excited that this book was being promoted by Rick Riordan, it featured Hindu mythology (which I know almost nothing about), and I'll admit, I was enticed by the beautiful cover... but sadly it just didn't live up to my expectations.
