I got this book for my 11 year old, however she hasn't read it yet (she gets assigned books in school right now). But when the book came, I thumbed through it and liked what I saw, so I read it. I thought it was a fantastic book! I can see where girls would like this book. The author is spot on with 'tween lingo. The book is very funny in parts, I was laughing many times and reading paragraphs out loud to my daughter.
In the Prologue, the author tells the real Greek myth of Pandora's box, then starts her story of Pandy. Near the end, there is a teaser that will whet the reader's appetite for the next book...you know what evil she has to get next and where she has to go, and who the "bad person" who is who is trying to stop her from getting all the evils. At the very end, the author includes a glossary of Greek gods/goddesses and their powers or what they represent, and some Greek terms. The author has done her research well.
I couldn't stop reading this book, I enjoyed it so much. I read it in one day. I can't wait to get all available in the series...even if my daughter doesn't like the books, I would like them for MY collection! I think girls and possibly boys around ages 11-14 would particularly enjoy these books.
PS-I was told that the author plays Diane on General Hospital.
