A slightly treacly book; good vs evil as we wait for the heroic figures to overcome all. Still, it's a good moral story, with divine prophecy, hidden identities and a lot of symbolism.

Two good kings, friends to each other, pledge their children in marriage in belief that it will fulfill a prophecy and bring about peace in the kingdoms. But when grown, we find Prince Lomar is a greedy, grasping and cruel heir and Princess Volanna is an innocent, kind and intelligent bride to be, who is disgusted by her bridegroom.

Enter Aradon, the village blacksmith who falls in love with a disguised Volanna. When her disguise is revealed, will he act honorably?
