First let me say i do not have a teenaged daughter, but i now have grown sons. So i can somewhat put myself in this mothers place. I have one word for my feelings about this novel's plot..."Horrified". I felt for this mother. I know that i am "old school" in alot of things, but this line of reasoning is just plain, for lack of a better word, "stupid". Getting pregnant as a pact? Is anyone really this heartless to bring a child into the world, at any age without thinking about how it will be fed, loved and taken care of until adulthood? Would a teen so young make the decision of jumping off a high bridge everyday for the next 18 years and taking their chances for survival, come as easily? I wonder about what goes thru their minds. I know this novel is fiction but it is based on events that have happened. I found it riveting in how Ms Delinsky brought forth this matter. I enjoyed the read. There is so many subjects that make this world go round, many are shocking, but all have to be dealt with. This book also held love, caring and lots of good writing.
