Fascinating world, a sequel to "A Fire Upon the Deep." But I was not as gripped by the characters or the plot. I don't want to give spoilers, but it's like a medieval world of alliances and multiple betrayals.

The Tines race gets a new wrinkle - and that is very well done. When they are too crowded, they become a hive.
