I am torn between giving this book 1 star (didn't like it) and 2 stars (it was okay) because it was clearly not my taste, but it also was readable by the fact that I did, in fact, finish it. Because of that, I'm going with two stars.
Outlander tells the tale of how ex-WWII combat nurse Claire Randall gets sucked back in time using the druid magic of a standing stone circle, where she is promptly forced to become the bride of a very handsome, very sexually desirable, and very well-to-do Scottish guy. Not-at-all-gentle sex, history, bigamy, rape of a male, and herb lore follow.
As I said, not a fan. Likely because I'm not a fan of descriptions of rough sex, I am not a fan of domestic violence, and I am also not a fan of history. I will not be reading the second book in this series.
